UC Performs Well in California!

UC boys T&F team places second in shuttle hurdles and Brown sparkles at Arcadia Invit.

The Union Catholic boys made its presence felt at one of the biggest track and field meets in the country when the Vikings competed at the two-day Arcadia Invitational that concluded on Saturday in Arcadia, California.
The quartet of Elijah Abraham, (15.2), Ryan McLaughlin (15.3), Brandon Leslie (15.5), and John Animashaun (16.3) combined to place second in the invitational shuttle hurdles in a NJ#4 1:02.88.
Junior Elijah Brown, the indoor Meet of Champions 800-meter winner, ran a NJ#1 1:53.94 to place sixth in the 800, and anchored the 4×800 that placed 12th in the 4×800 in 8:15.66.
In other highlights, the 4×200 team of Oluwafemi Asengua (23.8), Connor Cooper (22.1), Chindeu Okoro (22.9) and John Animashaun (23.3) finished sixth in the boys 4×200 in a NJ#20 1:32.30
Freshman Myles Plummer finished 20th in the 800 in a NJ#3 1:56.79, which smashed the school outdoor freshman record of 2:00.39 set in 2014 by Greg Gibbs, and ran on the 4×800 team.

The Vikings ran several N.J. No. 1 times at the 2-day meet in California
The Union Catholic girls track and field team put on a very impressive show with several N.J. No. 1 times in its first big meet of the season at the two-day Arcadia Invitational that concluded on Saturday in Arcadia, California.
Junior Leena Morant ran a NJ#1 2:11.88 to place fifth in the 800-meter run, ran 55.5 on the sixth place 4×400 that ran a NJ#1 3:51.87, and split 2:13.9 on the NJ#1/US#3 4×800 that ran 9:13.96.
Also for the UC girls, Jerika Lufrano the indoor Meet of Champions 1,600 winner, finished sixth in the mile 5:01.87 and split 2:18.9 on the 4×800.
Lufrano and Morant were joined on the 4×800 by Morgan Williams (2:17.9) and Ashleigh Patterson (2:22.7), and Morant teamed up with Avery Jordan (58.9), Sydney Tucker (57.3) and Zamira Ysaac (58.9) in the 4×400.
Tucker also burned a NJ#1 12.31 to place ninth in the 100 dash, and A’Liyah Thomas hit a NJ#1 mark of 17-10 3/4 to place 10th in the long jump.
The Vikings also ran a NJ#2 1:01.37 to place fourth in the invitational shuttle hurdles, and placed fifth in the 4×200 in a NJ#2 1:41.70.
Senior Hope Handlin cleared 10-7 to place 11th and break her own outdoor school record of 9-6 that she cleared last year, and and Williams (2:18.14), and Patterson (2:19.91) placed 24th and 30th, repsectively, in the 800.
