UC girls shuttle hurdle team earns All-American honors at New Balance Nationals
The squad of Ewing, Quainoo, Jordan and Williams combined to place 6th in 33.63
NEW YORK – The Union Catholic girls made its presence felt once again at the New Balance Nationals when the shuttle hurdle team earned All-American status with a sixth place finish and the 4×800-meter relay squad placed seventh on Saturday at the New Balance Track and Field Center in the 168th Street Armory.
The foursome of Brianna Ewing, Felicia Quainoo, Avery Jordan and Angelique Williams teamed up to earn a spot on the podium in the shuttles with its sixth place finish in 33.63.
The Vikings narrowly missed another All-American finish in the 4×800 when Morgan Williams (2:20.8), Leena Morant (2:14.8), Zamira Ysaac (2:17.9.) andJerika Lufrano (2:20.9) placed seventh in the in 9:14.11, one place off the podium. UC’s 9:14.11 was just off its season best of 9:13.90 that it ran at last month’s Millrose Games.
UC also finished 22nd in the sprint medley relay in 4:15.00, and ran 1:43.10 in the trials of the 4×200.
