UC girls runaway with 5th straight Union County Track and Field Title
Several Vikings star to lead the team to dominating performance
The Union Catholic girls kept its undefeated season going strong with another remarkable performance at Saturday’s Union County Track and Field Championships at the Jersey City Armory.
The Vikings, widely considered the No. 1 team in the state and one of the best in the nation, scored in all nine events and received points from 13 different athletes as they racked up 80 1/2 points to take home the team trophy. Union, Westfield and Gov. Livingston tied for second with 37 points.

There were lots of highlights for UC in this one.
Sophomore Leena Morant placed second in both the 400 and 800 with sizzling times. Her 800 time of 2:18.71 is NJ #4 and her 400 time of 58.77 is a personal best and NJ #9.
Junior Jerika Lufrano won the 3,200 in an unpushed and NJ #5 11:08.84.
Felicia Quainoo (8.58) and Brianna Ewing (8.60) went 2-3 in the 55 hurdles. Alexandra Borik placed fourth in the 1,600 in 5:32.08. Angelique Williams was second in the high jump (5-2) and Tyler Scott tied for fifth in the HJ at 4-10. Sydney Tucker placed sixth in the 55 dash in 7.48, Christina Samuels was third in shot put with a 33-9 3/4. Freshman Morgan Williams was third in the 800 in 2:19.75 and ran on the winning 4×400 (4:05.29). Zamira Ysaac finished fifth in the 800 in 2:22.23 and was on the first-place 4×400, and Khamil Evans was fourth in the 400 and ran on the relay. Ashleigh Patterson also contributed for UC by running leg on the 4×4.
