Team Breaks 4 Meet Records + a County Record at BDC
The Union Catholic track and field teams combined to smash four meet records and a county record at Saturday’s Blue Devil Classic in Westfield.
The girls 4×100 relay squad of Taylor Aska, Taylor Cox, Leah Gould, and Natalia Thompson broke their own Union County record with a meet record time of 46.07, the third fastest time in NJ history. Cox, Leah Gould, Vonya Gould and Kiara Fleming won the shuttle hurdles for the Vikings with a state leading time and meet record 59.42, and freshman Sydney Chadwick ran 1:03.65 in the 400 hurdles,and Aska ran 56.39 in the 400, both the fastest times of the day.
The UC boys also broke a pair of meet records, both in the field where the Vikings swept the horizontal jumps.
Kevin Philistin leaped PR’s of 44-4 in the triple jump and 19-7 in the long jump, Noah Cooper soared 43-11.50 in the triple jump and 21-8.25 in the long jump, Justice Hicks went 21-6 in the long jump, and Ron Ingleton went 39-11 in the triple jump as the Vikings won those events with combined totals of 128-2.50 in the triple jump and 62-9.25 in the long jump.
