Union Catholic Track and Field Teams Shine at NJCTC Relays

The Union Catholic track and field teams had a very strong all-round meet when the Vikings racked up five victories at Saturday’s New Jersey Catholic Track Conference Relays at Ocean Breeze on Staten Island.
In the girls’ competition, the Vikings won two relays and two individual events. The sprint medley relay team, which consisted of Kayla Ansong, Sinclair Powell, Leilani Gibson, and Caitlin Toy, finished first in 4:22.80, and Ansong, Sadie Thompson, Aubrey Devers and Sahar Ahad combined to win the 4×400 in 4:20.80. Individually, Alyssa Kenol led a 1-2-3 finish for the Vikings in the shot put with a winning throw of 30-2.50, and Natalie Thompson placed first in the long jump with a 17-6.50.
In the boys’ competition, Noah Cooper (21-9) and Justice Hicks (21-7) finished 1-2 for the Vikings in the long jump, the 4×200 squad of Cooper, Hicks, Dylan Williams, and Marcus McCoy placed second with a NJ No. 4 time of 1:30.92! UC’s 4×800 squad, comprised of freshmen and sophomores, finished third in 8:20.92, the 4×400 team placed third in 3:30.79, and Josh Hunsinger cleared 10-0 to place fourth in the pole vault.
