Boys Compete Well at Jim Mitchell
Conor Reilly broke the school record in the pole vault, and Elijah Brown, who won the 600-meter run, and Myles Plummer each shattered school class records when the Union Catholic boys competed at the Jim Mitchell on Friday night at the Jim Mitchell Invitational at the 168th Street Armory in New York.
Reilly, a junior, cleared a personal best 15-0 to place second on misses in the pole vault to break the school indoor record of 14-6 that he set last year. Reilly, who also placed seventh in te 30 in 36.74, is now ranked No. 2 in New Jersey this season in the pole vault with his 15-0.
Brown broke the UC junior class record when he rallied to edge Charles Dasilva of Pope John to win the 600 in a NJ #1 1:22.13, just missing the school record of 1:22.03 set in 2016 by Trae Robinson. Brown’s 1:22.13 shattered the junior class record of 1:23.38 set in 1016 by Greg Gibbs.
Plummer, who broke the school freshman class record in the 800 with a 1:59.71, earlier this season, added the school freshman record in the 1,000 when he finished seventh in the 1,000 in a NJ #2 2:38.02. The former freshman record of 2:46.97 was set by Justin Cadas in 2015.
