Team Rules

Attendance Policy
Practice is mandatory and not optional. The “No Practice – No Meet” rule will be in effect for all team members. If a practice is to be missed, the coaching staff must be notified before the missed practice.

-2:35pm – Attendance is taken
-If you are unable to attend practice you must contact Coach McCabe directly before practice.
-Unexcused absences from practice will result in a 1 meet suspension
-Frequent absences will result in your removal from the team

Late Policy
Excused Lates
-You are excused as long as you have made one of the coaches aware that you will be late.
-It is not acceptable to tell one of your teammates. You must speak to one of the coaches prior to your tardiness.
-You are excused to be late if you have a pass/note from a teacher

Unexcused Lates
-1st Late – Warning
-2nd Late – 1 meet suspension

Meet Attendance
You must be in attendance for all meets listed on the calendar. It is the responsibility of the athlete to plan their schedule so that there are no major conflicts with meets. If an athlete needs to miss a meet, a note and/or phone call from his/her parent/guardian must be delivered/made to the coach before the meet stating the reason for the absence. If no such note/call is delivered/made, the athlete will be subject to suspension from the team. A suspension of one meet for every meet missed will be applied.

Training
All team members are required to train with the team at all practices and to compete with the team at all assigned meets. The coaching staff stresses a TEAM atmosphere and it is necessary that all team members follow the training guidelines of the coaching staff. Training plans are periodized so each athlete maximizes their potential as the season progresses.

Travel/Transportation
An athlete will be permitted to travel to a meet with his/her parents, with prior permission from the coach. No athlete is permitted to transport other team members in his/her car without a note from a parent/guardian.

Uniforms
Team uniforms are not to be worn for practice. All athletes must wear proper uniforms to all meets. If a proper uniform is not worn, the athlete will not be allowed to participate in the meet. If a uniform is lost or stolen the athlete must pay the replacement cost.

Varsity Letters
a. Varsity letters (CROSS COUNTRY) will be awarded on the basis of three criteria. They are PRACTICE, PERFORMANCE AND POINTS SCORED. Varsity letters will be awarded to the athletes who consistently run on the Varsity Top 7. and who have run sub-18:00(Boys) or sub-22:00(Girls). These athletes should be at all practices, perform at their expected ability level and score consistently on the varsity level. Athletes that have received varsity letters in previous Cross Country seasons are not guaranteed a Varsity Letter in the current season unless they meet the above stated criteria.

b. Varsity letters (TRACK & FIELD) will be awarded on the basis of three criteria. They are PRACTICE, PERFORMANCE AND POINTS SCORED. Varsity letters will be awarded to the athletes who score 10 varsity points and/or have scored in a varsity championship meet. These athletes should be at all practices and perform at their expected ability level. Athletes that have received varsity letters in previous Track & Field seasons are not guaranteed a Varsity Letter in the current season unless they meet the above stated criteria.

Cut Policy
We do not make cuts based on level of ability. Athletes are removed from the team in cases of grades, discipline, or repeated missed practices/meets.
Note: The Coaching Staff reserves the right to break the team into groups and assign different practice days for each group.

Injuries
Injured athletes are required to check in every day with the coach and to attend all meets unless excused by the coaching staff. Furthermore, injured athletes should be working the the Director of Sports Medicine on a daily basis. The coaching staff will be in contact with the athlete and Athletic trainer to monitor progress.

Paperwork/Player Contract/Athletic Fee
All team members are required to have all paperwork submitted before the season begins. Required Materials each season: Physical(Part A & B), Permission Slip, Steroid Consent, Concussion and Player Contract)
